Snippet Troubleshooting in the CMS

Below are a number of case-scenarios you may encounter using the Snippets.

Rendering Errors

Once you have inserted a Snippet, it should display with correct formatting when you preview the page. If there seems to be a layout/design error, or if your Snippet does not appear on the page, please click Edit.

Now you should be able to view error messages that will explain the problem. They might include:

Deleted rows or columns might break the functionality of the Snippet.

Placing the Snippet in the wrong editable region might break the functionality of the Snippet.

If you experience these error messages, you will need to reinsert the Snippet. Ensure the item is in the correct editable region, most commonly the Main Content Region. If you have deleted necessary rows or columns, follow these steps:

  1. Use the Snippet tool to reinsert the Snippet right below the broken Snippet in the WYSIWYG.

  2. Copy and paste your content from the broken Snippet into the new Snippet.
  3. Delete the broken Snippet by clicking into one of the input fields and looking for the Path toolbar at the bottom of the WYSIWYG Editor.

  4. Click on the left-most item, "table." This action will manually select the entir Snippet.
  5. On your keyboard click backspace or delete.
  6. Once you have finished editing your web page, save and preview to ensure your Snippet has rendered correctly.

Snippet Version Error

Web & Digital Communications routinely updates our web features, which may apply to Snippets. If major changes are made, past versions of the Snippet may no longer be available and you might receive this error message when you are in the Edit mode of the CMS.

To fix this error you will need to update your Snippet to the most current version.

  1. Use the Snippet tool to reinsert the updated version of the Snippet right below the old version in the WYSIWYG.

  2. Copy and paste your content from the old Snippet into the new Snippet.
  3. Delete the old Snippet by clicking into one of the input fields and looking for the Path toolbar at the bottom of the WYSIWYG Editor.

  4. Click on the left-most item, "table." This action will manually select the entir Snippet.
  5. On your keyboard click backspace or delete.
  6. Once you have finished editing your web page, save and preview to ensure your Snippet has rendered correctly.
