You successfully completed CMS training. Your website was created. And now you have a well-structured website with several site sections and a number of web pages.
Do you find yourself copying and pasting the same text, inserting and formatting the same image on several of your web pages? If you have content you would like to use on multiple pages, rather than manually insert it on each page and then return to each page to make changes or edits, consider creating an Asset.
An Asset is a reusable piece of content, such as formatted or non-formatted text, images, image galleries, and forms. When an Asset is modified and published, all pages that contain the Asset will automatically adopt the changes. It’s that easy!
To get started, log in to the CMS and click Content then Assets.
There are three primary Asset types
- Web Content – This is for creating blocks of text or single images.
- Source Code – This is for embedding raw HTML onto a page.
- Common examples of raw HTML include embed code for a Youtube video, Facebook page, etc.
- The Source Code Asset can also be used to compartmentalize PHP, CSS, JS, etc. These advanced topics are covered in more detail in the help section titled Using Scripting Language.
- Image Gallery – This is for inserting an image slider or thumbnail gallery onto a page.
While Plain Text is a fourth Asset type, you can achieve the same results using Web Content.
A fifth Asset type that allows you to create and use forms is also available, however, the Form Asset does require additional training before you can access it. If you would like more information on this please visit How do I get started with the Form Asset?.
